A total of seven patients were brought to Hennepin Healthcare Medical Center, a nearby hospital, with three undergoing surgery for gunshot wounds.
The shooting prompted a large police presence in the area, with Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz confirming that his public safety team was responding to the incident. Walz wrote on social media that state officials were on the ground to support local law enforcement and would provide more information as it became available.
The Minnesota Fraternal Order of Police acknowledged the injured officers in a social media post, expressing thoughts and prayers for those involved. Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison described the shooting as "horrifying" and offered his support for responding law enforcement.
The University of St. Thomas, which has a building near the area of the shooting, locked down its Minneapolis campus as a precautionary measure. The FBI and ATF were also responding to the scene, with FBI Director Kash Patel stating that the agency would offer any necessary resources to assist local authorities.
