Kelsey Mitchell's 33-point performance Friday night propelled the Indiana Fever to a 103-85 victory over the Toronto Tempo. The guard's achievement marked another milestone in her record-breaking season, as she surpassed A'ja Wilson's previous single-season scoring record of 1,021 points, set in 2024. Mitchell now has 1,034 points this season.
Mitchell's teammate, Caitlin Clark, added 28 points to the Fever's total and matched her season high with 14 assists. Clark, who had been away from the team competing in the women's FIBA World Cup, where the US won the title, returned to the court with a strong performance. She shot 2 for 8 from distance and made 12 free throws without a miss.
The Tempo, who were without veteran guard Marina Mabrey due to a right adductor injury, lost their fifth straight game. Laura Juskaite led the team with 22 points, while Kiki Rice added 18. Isabelle Harrison and Temi Fagbenle each scored 16 points, but it was not enough to overcome the Fever's strong offense.
The win marked the Fever's eighth victory in 10 games and moved them into a tie with the Atlanta Dream for first place in the Eastern Conference. The team will host the Washington Mystics on Sunday, while the Tempo will face the New York Liberty in their next game.
