Jeremiyah Love made a statement with his first career touchdown on the Arizona Cardinals' opening drive in their Week 1 matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday. The Cardinals, who were 10-point underdogs, pulled off an upset victory with a final score of 26-14.

Love, who was drafted third overall by the Cardinals in April, was expected to make an immediate impact given his high draft stock. He did not disappoint, scoring his first career touchdown on a second-and-goal play from the Chargers' 5-yard line. The 41-yard run was set up by a 70-yard opening drive led by quarterback Jacoby Brissett.

Love's performance was notable, especially considering he had been dealing with an ankle injury throughout training camp. He shared carries with veteran Tyler Allgeier, who was brought in as a free agent acquisition this offseason. The Cardinals' first-year head coach, Mike LaFleur, was visibly enthusiastic after the drive, joining his players in celebration.

Love's 11 carries resulted in 41 yards, a promising start to his NFL career. The Cardinals' selection of Love at third overall had raised some eyebrows, but his performance in Week 1 suggests that he may be the key to the team's rebuilding efforts.
