A manhunt is underway in New York City for 31-year-old Jesus Acosta, who is accused of being involved in two separate deadly shootings that took place in different boroughs over the course of two days.
According to the NYPD, Acosta is wanted in connection with a shooting at a deli in the Bronx on Tuesday morning. At around 12:16 a.m., a gunman approached a 33-year-old man at 149 Grill & Deli on East 149th Street and opened fire, striking him multiple times in the chest. The victim was rushed to Lincoln Hospital, where he was initially listed in stable condition but later died from his injuries.
The NYPD has also linked Acosta to a shooting in Brooklyn on Sunday, which left a 44-year-old man dead and another man wounded. At around midnight, officers responding to a 911 call about an assault in progress found the 44-year-old victim with a gunshot wound to the head and a 39-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg. Both men were taken to One Brooklyn Health-Brookdale Hospital Medical Center, where the 44-year-old was pronounced dead.
The NYPD has released surveillance images of Acosta, who is described as 5 feet, 11 inches tall and weighing about 175 pounds, with short brown hair and brown eyes. He has a tattoo of the word "Bronx" on his hand and the name "Bobby" on his left forearm. Police are urging anyone who recognizes him to come forward.
Acosta is considered to be a suspect in both shootings, but the NYPD has not yet confirmed whether he is the sole perpetrator or if he was acting in concert with others.
