The Tennessee Titans are off to a dismal start to the season, with the team's CEO, Burke Nihill, acknowledging that the product on the field has been poor. The team is currently 0-5, with the fewest points scored per game in the NFL, and Nihill has apologized to the fan base for the disappointing performance.
Nihill, who speaks on behalf of controlling owner Amy Adams Strunk, expressed regret for the team's struggles, stating, "The first thing I would say back to the fans is just that we're sorry. There's nobody in this building that doesn't feel... a sense of grief about it, because not only are we fans of the team as well, but we feel the sense of responsibility to deliver. And we've let our fans down because football is supposed to be fun."
The team's struggles are not new, with the Titans having lost 33 of their last 39 games and currently on a seven-game losing streak that dates back to last season. Despite this, Nihill has confidence in the team's leadership, citing general manager Mike Borgonzi and head coach Robert Saleh as ultimately responsible for turning the team around.
Nihill expressed faith in the team's ability to overcome its current struggles, stating, "I personally feel a sense of stability. I believe that Mike Borgonzi and Robert Saleh are ultimately going to get this team out of the woods and restore it to competitive football." The team will look to end its losing streak when it takes on the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday.
