A hiker in Canada had a harrowing encounter with multiple grizzly bears while out in Kootenay National Park in British Columbia. Keith Kerr was in the park when he came across an adult female grizzly bear who appeared to be protecting her two cubs. The bear's maternal instincts kicked in and she began to charge at Kerr, producing a low gurgling growl that he described as the "gnarliest sound" he had ever heard.

Kerr explained in an interview with CTV News that the female bear came around a corner and positioned herself in his path before he could even react. He stated that she was "so fast" and that at the moment, he thought his encounter with her might be fatal. Fortunately, the bear did not launch a full attack, but instead made a series of bluff charges, forcing Kerr to remain vigilant.

The incident serves as a reminder to be aware of one's surroundings while in nature, as you never know what might be lurking around the corner. The park is home to a large population of grizzly bears, and visitors are advised to take necessary precautions to avoid encounters with these wild animals.

The encounter was caught on camera, and footage of the incident has been shared online. While some viewers have expressed concern for Kerr's safety, others have noted the importance of respecting wildlife and keeping a safe distance.

Kerr's experience is a sobering reminder of the power and unpredictability of wild animals, and the need for caution when venturing into their habitats.
