Dave Marcis, a former NASCAR driver, has been robbed of cherished racing memorabilia from his home in Arden, North Carolina.
The break-in occurred over the weekend while Marcis was out of town. The stolen items include Rolex watches, knives, guns, and memorabilia, according to Robert Pressley, a former NASCAR driver who lives in the area and had breakfast with Marcis on Tuesday morning. Pressley noted that some of the watches were gifts given to Marcis and his late wife, Helen.
Pressley believes that the thieves may have difficulty selling the stolen items because many of them bear Marcis' name. A Facebook post by one of Marcis' friends confirmed that the stolen items included jewelry and personal NASCAR memorabilia, including knives honoring past Winston Cup champions.
The break-in is being investigated by the Buncombe County Sheriff's Department, which has classified the incident as a felony.
