Seattle Seahawks coach Mike Macdonald has revealed a tense situation that arose during the 2024 season, involving a perceived transgression by the Denver Broncos. According to Macdonald, his staff discovered around 100 plays that had been posted on social media after the Broncos' training-camp practices were filmed. Given that the Seahawks' first game of the season was against the Broncos, Macdonald's team used this information to gain an advantage, which ultimately contributed to their 26-20 win.

Macdonald made these comments during an interview with Graham Bensinger, in which he described the situation as a "Cold War" between the two teams. He explained that Broncos coach Sean Payton discovered the Seahawks' scouting tactics midway through the season and "lost his mind." Payton allegedly threatened to publicly accuse the Seahawks of cheating, similar to the Spygate scandal involving the New England Patriots.

However, according to Macdonald, the situation was resolved without a public confrontation. He claimed that the Seahawks' general manager, John Schnedier, threatened to sue the Broncos if they made the allegations public. As a result, both teams maintained a tense standoff without taking any further action.

Macdonald also revealed that he had a chance encounter with Payton at the NFL Combine, where Payton seemed to back down from the confrontation. Macdonald described the encounter as a "meekness" from Payton, which suggested that the Broncos coach was reluctant to escalate the situation further.

The incident has raised questions about the Broncos' coach's reputation, given his past involvement in the Bountygate scandal and a recent comment that appeared to be a swipe at his former quarterback, Russell Wilson.
